Designer duo Daniel and Linda who make up A La Disposition, have launched their brand new and first foray into e-commerce with their new online store. The premise is simple, you can now purchase the brands quirky and couture-esque designs and have them shipped to your door. The layout is extremely simple and easy to navigate and use, which helps when making your selections. Alongside the mainline collection, the site also offers top hats and extremely glamourous shoes, complete with antler style heels.
A definite step in the right direction for this unique and exciting label. See what the designers say about this brand new launch below.
Why did we launch an online boutique?
We wanted to be able to provide our customers with a more personal shopping experience. Our eStore offers a juried “Runway to Retail” selection of garments from the latest collection, which we hand pick ourselves. This allows us to offer a more complete range of styles, especially when it comes to the more experimental pieces, which have always been among the best sellers with our customers.
How did we select the layout?
We have been working on developing an online boutique for several seasons, which as a small brand has been challenging. When we first began working on an eCommerce site, online sales of RTW clothing was chiefly limited to large international brands and well established stores. However, we always saw eCommerce as a great way to interact with our customers and so we launched our first online boutique when very few other small designers were doing it. Now the technology has advanced making it easier for us to create our eStore exactly how we want it: visually engaging while still being user friendly. It was very important for us to be sure that we selected software that was mobile, iPad and iPhone friendly in addition to working with more traditional platforms. We also wanted to have a layout which allows our customers to see the details of our designs while showing the overall sculptural aspects of each piece.
What did we customize?
We buy almost exclusively online ourselves so we tried to view the layout of the site from both a seller’s and a customer’s viewpoint. We did a lot of tweaking of the program to be sure the store was what we wanted visually, but we also wanted to be sure that it included features we felt were important for customers. Among them was the addition of the “may we recommend” section at the bottom of each item page, which provides images of similar or complementing items also available in the store.
What makes the store unique or more appealing to customers?
Part of our Runway to Retail concept is that since we can offer our collection directly to our customers, we are able to include a wider range of styles: from beautifully cut shirts to the most elaborately designed pieces of the season. Pieces are made exactly as they were shown during London Fashion Week, without revisions that retailers sometimes ask for. With smaller production runs any piece purchased from our eStore is sure to be a limited edition, and for this season are exclusive to our online shop. We wanted to design our store with our customers in mind, and we hope we have created a great online shopping experience.
