Saint Laurent have released this silent film showing Daft Punk as an additional face for Laurent’s music project advertising campaign. The electronic duo are currently much hyped following the announcement of their new studio album ‘Random Access Memories’ along with a sneak peak of their new single ‘Get Lucky’ (featuring the ever stylish Pharrell Williams) being shown at Coachella festival this week. Saint Laurent have also been named as responsible for Daft Punk’s upcoming stage outfits, which would explain the relationship.
Following in the footsteps of Marilyn Manson, Courtney Love, Kim Gordon and Ariel Pink, Punk add to the already controversial ad campaign, however we rather enjoy the sombre and brooding imagery from this campaign that would not have been accomplished without those named. Instead of opting for the “safer” celebrity face, Slimane has picked a set of musicians that are utterly random and unexpected as campaign models, yet who compliment and bring their own sense of edge to the brand.
