LFW : Preen

 | Category: Fashion

The Preen presentation showed pieces in solid pastel coloured checks, Arizona Muse’s fresh face and dainty features perfectly reflect the airy feel of the brands spring 2012 show. Virginia Woolf, the original inspiration for Preen’s spring 2012 collection, could barely be seen behind the sleek cuts and bold prints except through tight twisted up do’s and flushed cheeks.

Pixelated prints and large graphic checks worked across the entire collection, occasionally interrupted by gorgeously dark pen-and-ink florals. Taking a dark twist away from the uplifting ambience of the rest of the collection, these black, white and metallic toned grey pieces are nods to the more avant-garde side of Preen.

Signature sophisticated silhouettes were met by ruffles and pleats with the odd feminine touch through naughty pops of colour at the cuff and collar. Hues of blue added a calming touch of spring skies to a mainly muted palette steering away from the almost overwhelming use of orange on other catwalks.

The seasons feel to low key minimalism runs against Preen’s previous tendency to deconstruct, however once again the look of the season has been seamlessly woven into Thea Bregazzi’s and Justin Thornton’s collection.
