LFW : Mary Katrantzou

 | Category: Fashion

Mary Kantrantzou has always one to watch in our book, and contiunally stands out, with this new collection being no exception.

Returning are Kantrantzou’s signature prints, only this time more eclectic and vibrant than ever. A rainbow menagarie of colours burst onto the catwalk with the prints resembling the idea of nature exploding over the dresses and tailored trousers presented. Prints varied from flowers, feathers and scales furthering the nature theme.

The idea remains mixing the ideas of nature and manmade, and where the prints resemlble nature, the addition of real metal objects makes up the manmade. Whilst creating the collection Katrantzou had been looking at John Chamberlain sculptures of crushed cars. This comes through with metal cans blackened, painted and crystallized and adorned to the pieces in a bizarre yet wonderful applique.

The collection drew together man’s industrial modernity along with nature, creating a very modern and bold set of pieces, that will make a bold impact on next spring, making us wait with baited breath for what Kantrantzou brings us next.
