Bora Aksu return to Somerset House this season, to showcase a light and romantic collection entitled ‘The Unknown’. A love story, with an unknown end, between two people Rose and Charles, inspired the collection that was shown on a catwalk coated in petals.
The pieces took sought inspiration from Edwardian fine dressing, showcasing an array of intricately crafted pieces coming in a range of virginal whites and beiges, whilst incorporating burnt oranges, navy and black into the palette.
Many of the pieces used light materials to create layered looks, with much focus remaining around the hips, with the peplum and tulip skirts being used. Pieces included ornate detailed bodices and frilled hems along with fine use of panelling and piping. Lace also featured on many of the pieces, whilst sheer variations were layered with bows and ribbons along
The collection harks back to an era of fine dressing and romanticism whilst moving away from the future sex, so often seen in fashion of late.
